
it would appear that this closed club does not want to share it's secrets with the rest of the world. but sadly most of the info I've found is leveled at people who know and who speak the speak. but I do not know how to gain access from other pc's on the homenetwork nor indeed from machines outside of the network. I can gain access using the 127.0.0.1 from the host pc (pc where the ftp server is setup. however, I've already configured the Virgin Superhub for FTP access but, as I'm not that conversant with the technology, I have no idea what settings I need to use in order to access the ftp server from outside the homenetwork using the dynamic DNS as I've exhausted all of the combinations that I can think of. In that case you must use your private IP address (or a different hostname resolving to that private IP address) if connecting from inside your network.

Many NAT routers and ISPs perform basic egress filtering, they drop self-addressed TCP packets.

Using the same dynamic DNS hostname from both inside as well as outside the private network the server is located in might not work. Have a look at the Network Configuration guide for instructions. In that case you need to configure your router for FTP.
